Xmas XC Ride at Hopton

When Dave spread the word that he was going on an XC ride around Hopton Woods he had a bit of a shock how many people turned up!

Dave, Mat and the team from Pearce Cycles have been slowly working on a new trail centre style loop around Hopton Woods. When complete it will be a fully marked red grade trail and approximately 16km long initially. So far 70% of the trails are now in place and are rideable but not yet marked. Dave wanted to show everyone what we had done so far and the day after Boxing day 56 people turned up at the carpark. We did not expect that many people to turn up, but it was an excellent mix of all abilities ranging from elite downhill racers to family cyclists.

The trails were well recieved and lots of fun was had by all. They are a mix of new fast flowing trails crafted by Dave's magic digger skills and some classic old school downhill trails thrown in. There is about 2000ft of climbing around the loop but the descents are worth it! There is a lot of work still to be done but we are expecting to be completed during 2012.

Thanks again to everyone who came along. Keep an eye on the website for an offical opening ceremony, hopefully it will not be too far away!!!
