eONE SIXTY SL 6000 redblk MY25

Merida has introduced a new SL ("Super Light") eMTB, the eONE-SIXTY SL and we have one here in stock already built up. It looks stunning! We should find out soon exactly how this bike rides when we get our demo bike all built up and on the trails.

This bike features a full-carbon frame and Bosch's compact SX motor, offering 160 mm of travel at both ends and 29" wheels, with mullet compatibility. Merida claims a weight of 19.5 kg for the top-spec, size medium model, which is comparable to other trail-ready SL eMTBs.

The eONE-SIXTY SL has more travel than many of its SL category rivals. Switching to a mullet set up with the flip chip increases rear wheel travel to 174 mm. Out of the box, it feels more like a long-travel trail bike than an enduro bike.

Frame Details:

  • Rear Suspension: Features a flexible seatstay for lighter weight and lower maintenance, with minimal impact on suspension feel. The rocker link is moved forward, eliminating the shock extender/yoke to reduce side-loading on the shock.
  • Suspension: Moderately progressive, designed for air shocks but compatible with coils. High anti-squat and anti-rise provide support during pedaling and braking, potentially affecting sensitivity. The flip chip in 27.5" mode increases travel to 174 mm, reducing progression slightly.

Bosch SX Drive Unit:

  • Power: Offers 600W peak power and 55 Nm torque, requiring fast pedaling for maximum power.
  • Battery: 400 Wh battery is non-removable, saving weight but potentially inconvenient without a nearby power outlet. Higher spec models power the Transmission derailleur via the main battery, requiring a spare AXS battery when the main battery is depleted.

Geometry:

  • Chainstay Length: Minimum of 450 mm, common for 29" bikes with the Bosch SX motor.
  • Tyre Clearance: Official maximum of 2.4", with some extra room.
  • Seat Angle: Steeper than most bikes in the category.
  • Stack Height: Relatively short, especially in larger sizes. Merida emphasizes the ability to raise handlebars but not shorten them, catering to riders sizing up or from a cross-country background.
